Hi There

Hello my name is Rachel I'm a transwoman, a chocoholic and I'm a Doctor Who fangurl.  My life is completely boring so don't expect to find any divine wisdom or the secrets of the universe here.  I started watching Doctor Who back in 1979 when I was just six, it was strange, it was scary, it was bizarre and the weird man with the scarf and teeth was at times scarier than the monsters and villains he did battle with each week!  Then everything changed a couple of years later when he suddenly changed into a completely different person!!!

How weird was that?  Of course the BBC was on had to show that my understanding of the show was only skin deep, there had been other Doctors before the man with the scarf!  I watched on that wasn't in colour and it was even stranger and scarier because this strange and funny man with the mad hair was very much the same as the one with the scarf just entirely different!  This prepared me for things to come as that bloke off All Creatures Great And Small was now the Doctor.  Then later he became colour blind (how else do you explain the coat?) and then Scottish, before I went to Sixth Form and pretended to be all grown up and I didn't notice he'd gone away until I got to University and then I found out there were books I could buy!

Later on they brought back a cool new Doctor only to get rid of him almost immediatly, although there were new books to buy.  Then just after the BBC decided to cast one of my fave actors Richard E Grant as the Doctor in a new animated series, the BBC changed its mind and cast some bloke I'd never heard of in a new telly show, I was actually upset by this news and wanted the telly show cancelled!  Luckily I gave it a chance and I liked it, then David Tennant came along quickly and completely made the role his own with four years of wonderful and witty Doctorisms (as well as the most fanciable companion ever, Donna Noble) and I cried buckets when he exploded in a huge burst of energy.

Now Matt Smith is in the role and he's made Saturday teatimes unsafe for monsters again by being even scarier than them at times.  I liked the second half of his first season more than the first half, I think that Rory is a much better companion than Amy, even though I do quite fancy her (not as much as Donna) but I think that the Doctor and Rory would be the more interesting team up as Amy's too similar to the Doctor at times so there's not as big a contrast between them as a story sometimes needs.

My Favourite Doctor

I always vote for the current Doctor, so it's Matt Smith

(if I didn't it would be Colin Baker)
